Himalayan Rock Salt is the purest, some call it “white gold”, and is considered by biochemists as having the most benefits of any salt available. It does not compare to common table salt which is actually kiln dried sodium chloride which is not a natural salt at all.
Wikipedia says: “It is mined in the Khewra Salt Mines, the second largest salt mine in the world, located in Khewra, Jhelum District, Punjab, Pakistan, about 300 km from the Himalayas.” It is mined with the minimal use of commercial machinery so that it retains its original qualities.
The color is a off-white, pinkish color with specks of black. The salt leaves the mining site as large rocks and is processed thru a crusher. The salt is certified as pure and may be consumed in the state that it is provided without further filtering by the consumer. It contains: no artificial colors, gluten, chemical additives or preservatives.
It is said that this salt has been buried for 250 million years and contains all the following 84 minerals that are the basis of human life.
If you look at table salt it could be considered a cellular poison. It is bleached, chemically treated and kiln drived at over 1,000 degrees F. The body will try desperately to rid itself of this poison. The kidneys and liver react quickly. The body extracts water from all cells in an effort to neutralize the sodium chloride. These dehydrated cells die and the body starts to dehydrate. Common table salt is an enormous burden to your body. Did you know that your body may be using 23 times the amount of water contained in the cells just to neutralize the common table salt you consume? Ever wonder how much salt you as an average person consume a day? Answer: It’s about 4,000 to 6,000 mg; if you a heavy user of salt it could be as much as 10,000 mg daily. The chemicals that may be added to common table salt are Calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, and aluminum hydroxide. Aluminum deposits into your brain and could be a potential cause of Alzheimer’s disease.
Common salt (sodium chloride) and natural sodium (Himalayan Rock Salt) are completely different elements.
On the other hand Himalayan Rock Salt is what the body is looking for. It assists in the re-mineralization of the body with minerals and trace elements that are contained only in Himalayan Rock Salt. Some say that the body needs all of the 84 minerals claimed to be contained in salt from the Himalayas. These would only be a part of the thousands that are actually contained in the earths surface, not so, only about 16 minerals are truly beneficial to the human system.
It has been estimated that 4% of the body’s mass consists of Minerals. There are the major minerals of which the body requires more than 100 mg/day. These are sodium, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, manganese, sulphur, cobolt and chlorine.
One thing is true for sure. The human body cannot make, unlike some vitamins and most enzymes, its own minerals, it must get all minerals from the food supply and only a well balanced diet can provide this. Obviously if Himalayan Rock Salt is used the minerals required for excellent health will be supplied.
The other minerals required are considered trace minerals of which the body requires less than 100 mg/day. These are: iron, zinc, copper, selenium, iodine, fluorine and chromium.

As some side health benefits it: may regulate heartbeat, improve bone health, balance blood and pH, prevent muscle cramps, improve intimacy and sleep, may assist in the regulation of the electrolyte balance of cells, may promote the absorption of food particles through your intestinal tract, improve sinus cleanliness and health, supports respiratory health and jump starts the energy in the cells of your body.
